University leaders see benefits to policy in a country with aging population, but some states have been trying to move away from the approach.

In 2016, German universities enjoyed another big rise in the international student population, according to the latest data. Germany recorded close to a 7 percent increase in international students coming to the country. This follows a jump of nearly 8 percent the previous year. Numbers have risen about 30 percent since 2012.

In a visit to a tool manufacturer in Wisconsin on Tuesday, President Trump signed an executive order to overhaul the H-1B visa program, which he said should be limited to "only the most skilled and highest-paid applicants." Colleges fear that, as with his previous orders banning travel from some majority-Muslim nations, the president’s latest move could deter foreign students from seeking to enroll on American campuses.

Indigenous knowledge is valid scientific knowledge.

That is the core value of a new institute at McMaster University dedicated to advancing indigenous research.                                                                                                                                                                                   

The facility, which launched in January, is made up of seven indigenous faculty members who teach at the university across multiple disciplines and a research co-ordinator.
