Egypt to Establish World's Largest Digital Library with UAE and Saudi Arabia

Egypt’s Ministry of Education announced on Saturday plans to work with the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to establish the world’s largest digital library, reports Egypt Independent.

The Ministry’s Media Advisor, Ahmed Sabry, added that that the announcement was made by all three countries at the Knowledge Summit 2018, which took place in Dubai on December 5-6.

The digital library, which is an online database, will be equipped with information and services for students and researchers through a digital platform that connects users to the Dubai Digital Library, the Saudi Digital Library and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, according to Education Minister Tarek Shawky.

Set up in 2015, The Egyptian Knowledge Bank was initially launched as part of the Towards an Egyptian Community That Learns, Thinks and Innovates initiative, with the Education of Scientific Research council having signed contracts with 26 international publishing houses including National Geographic, Discovery, Cambridge, Oxford, Reuters and more.
